S.H.I.E.L.D Academy

Seeking Him In Every Life Decision

"The Lord is my strength and my shield." Psalm 28:7

Our main bible verse centers on the fact that Jesus is our SHIELD. He is the ultimate Superhero and we want each child to learn that no one else compares to Him. S.H.I.E.L.D stands for Seeking Him In Every Life Decision and that is just what we want your child to learn as they go through our program. Your child will go through the AWANA program and train just like superheroes! Each Sunday night will consist of music, games, snacks, and Bible time where they will learn about JESUS, the Ultimate Superhero! S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy meets each Sunday night from Sept 19th - April 24th from 5:00pm - 6:30pm. This program is for ages 3 years old through 12th grade. We use the AWANA curriculum to support our mission of discipling kids to walk with Christ for life and to reach kids and their families with the gospel of Christ.

A Superhero Adventure Awaits You!

SHIELD Academy

This isn't the typical AWANA you might be used to. It's bigger. It's better. It's SHIELD! S.H.I.E.L.D. is home to some of the greatest superheroes in the Bible. Kids will experience a world of heroes as we explore the Bible together in a large group setting and then split off into smaller groups where they will start their own training by reading and memorizing Scripture through the AWANA curriculum. They will also do superhero training during game time, jam out to superhero music, and of course we can’t forget the snacks! Each verse and book that is passed off earns them an award as well as bucks for our AWANA store. We will have an awards ceremony at the end of the club year to celebrate their accomplishments.

Ages 4 - 5 Years Old

Awana Cubbies is for our youngest superheroes, preschoolers to kindergarten. Our purpose is to help your child take their first little step on a lifelong journey. In the Bible, parents are instructed to teach their children about God’s word, little by little, day by day. The Cubbies program is designed to help leaders and parents in this critical role.

1st - 2nd grade

Boys and girls in 1st and 2nd grade will be like superheroes and fly high with Sparky, the friendly firefly. Sparks® ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ. Along the way, Sparky, the friendly firefly, encourages boys and girls to learn verses and complete activities in the three flying-themed handbooks. Children earn awards for sections completed and the Sparks who complete all three books (a 3-year endeavor) receive a special Sparky plaque.

3rd - 6th Grade

T&T® stands for Truth and Training. Our T&T club takes 3rd through 6th grade boys and girls on an Ultimate Adventure. Children will learn God’s word while training to follow Him. T&T curriculum contains 30 Bible studies, memory verses, loads of extra credit, plus a fun story about T&T Super Agents.  They will explore key fundamentals to growing in a relationship with Jesus Christ and learn about who God is, what the Bible is, who Jesus is, and how to live out their faith.  Each night consists of game time, small groups that gather to work on Bible memorization and to build relationships, and a large group session that reinforces the gospel message, which includes award time and more fun.

Youth Program

Hi! Ready to go on a journey? Join Journey Club and you’ll dive deep into some of the most common questions about life and the Christian faith.

We make sure our older kids have a place at S.H.I.E.L.D. as well.  Journey is for our middle and high school students, 7th through 12th grade.  Youth have a chance to earn fun activities throughout the year such as gift cards or bowling as they memorize scripture.

7th-8th Grade

Our middle schoolers will go through the Trek curriculum which challenges students to wrestle with the three questions they are facing: "Who am I, why am I here, and who's with me?"   Their first book 'His Love' Bible Study focuses on Jesus and His ministry, as told through the Gospel of Luke, and teaches students how to minister to others. This study includes 32 lessons, daily devotionals, a clear structure and layout and one verse per week to allow for deeper group discussions. Their second book 'His Story' Bible Study helps middle school students understand God’s story and answers the question, “Who are you?” Features clarified structure, consistent layouts, engaging lessons and daily devotional prompts. Each study is easy to navigate, includes daily devotionals and features one verse per week to allow for deeper group discussions and helps students understand their destiny in Christ as they study who God is.

9th - 12th Grade

High schoolers will go through the Journey curriculum which establishes high school students as lifelong disciples through a deep study of God's word. It teaches them what is really expected of a follower of Jesus and mobilizes students to impact the world for Christ. This four year curriculum, mixes biblically rich content, engaging video teaching, and challenging practical application that will equip you to make life-long disciples.

Our high schoolers will dive deeper into the word of God with the “Disciples” Bible Study which focuses on what is expected of a disciple who strives to follow Jesus wholeheartedly as presented throughout Scripture. Bible study lessons also include introduction activities to help launch students into the Core Concept for each week, Bible passage, Core Verse, questions and much more. This Bible study presents 32 weeks’ worth of deep biblical content and exercises to challenge Journey students in their faith for the entire school year. Video content included!

Before you get started, we’ve laid out how to get the most out of the “Disciples” bible study book to get you a leg up on your journey. We have also included what is expected for a leader to sign off on a section to give the clubbers a head start on what to expect. Ready to get started? Let’s go!

How to use the Disciples Bible Study Book

Students are to work on the study daily during the week to build a habit of seeking the Lord daily for all their needs. All the work should be complete by Club start time. There will be no time during club which will be spent getting the clubber diving deeper into the understanding of God and developing that love relationship that God desires to have with each of us. Since Journey Club is on Sunday night, Day 1 of the study is Monday.

Day 1: Intro Activity: Where do you begin? Start here! with prayer to have the Holy Spirit open your eyes and ears spiritually so you will be prepared to hear what God has to say to you. Each lesson begins with an experience to help you launch into the Core Concept for the week. There is space for you to create, draw, attach photos of creations, make lists, etc… All sections need to be completed for a leader sign off.

Day 2: Video: Watch a video, take notes. Pay attention to key elements of the topic covered and the memory verse.

The Core Verse is the memory verse, memorize it to get a leader sign off. Below each core verse is a light explanation of what the verse means. Learn what it means in your own words.

Day 3: A Core Concept is included for every lesson. A one sentence main lesson idea and a notable word(s) with a definition to help you with current and future Bible study. Add each word to you vocabulary list.

Core Content begins with a Scripture passage. Always start by reading God’s word first then read through the study.

Day 4 to 5:  Questions are provided each week for you to choose 2 to explore or if you have questions of your own write those out as a basis for small group discussion

Day 6 to 7: Action Steps and Speaker Notes are your challenge to take what you’ve learned each week and put it into action. This is your opportunity to commit to living according to what God has called you to through the Bible study. This must be completed for leader sign off.

In Summary to get leader sign off you must complete the intro activity at the beginning of each lesson, memorize the Core Verse(s) and respond to two exploration questions.
